Common questions about becoming an EMS volunteer with BSBRA Q: How much time is involved? A: Typically, our members are required to do a minimum of 20 hours per month of duty and make a monthly meeting and training. Special considerations are made for work, school, childcare, etc. Q: Do I have to physically ride on an ambulance? A: No. There are different types of membership at BSBRA, including dispatcher, which does not involve physically getting on an ambulance. Q: Do I have to have any kind of medical background or knowledge? A: Our members come from all different backgrounds, including teachers, mechanics, accountants, housewives, etc. Once a member, you will be given the opportunity to attend trainings, take classes, and become certified as an EMT. Q: Am I too old/young to join? A: We'll consider anyone ages 12 and up. There is something for everyone to be a part of.
