On Saturday September 23rd, 2017, the Bay Shore - Brightwaters Rescue Ambulance Inc. conducted EMS standby operations for the Annual Great South Bay Half Marathon through the Bay Shore Marina, South Bay Shore and West Bay Shore.
Chief of Department Joseph Frisina, alongside 2nd Assistant Chief Chapman, established Command for the events Emergency Medical Service needs. Captain Anthony Garcia Jr. managed district operations and logistics for the duration of the run.
With this event, BSBRA successfully supplied 4 volunteer ambulances, District ALS, 3 EMS bike teams and Special Operation capabilities with our MCI vehicle. Exchange Ambulance of the Islips lended a hand supplying a volunteer gator rover to roam the race route and the Brentwood Legion Ambulance supplied an additional volunteer ambulance. During the run, BSBRA was also able to supply the Bay Shore High School with an ALS ambulance to standby for their football game.
Being a volunteer at BSBRA is much more then answering calls for help. Day in and day out, our volunteers go above and beyond lending a hand to our communities sporting events, social events, festivals, fairs and neighboring districts.
A job well done goes out to all of our volunteers that sacrifice their time for our neighbors.
