Jason Hoffman- Chief of the Department

Chief Hoffman started his membership at Bay Shore Brightwaters Rescue Ambulance (BSBRA) at the young age of 15. Chief Hoffman over the years has responded on more then 2000 EMS calls, held the ranks of Captain, Second Assistant Chief, and is currently the First Assistant Chief. 

Chief Hoffman became an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in 1999. In 2005 Chief Hoffman attended Stony Brooks Paramedic Program and received his Paramedic certification.

Chief Hoffman attended York College of Pennsylvania where he received his Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice. While in college Chief Hoffman joined his local Fire Companies Ambulance Company and moved up through the ranks. Eventually he became Captain of the Ambulance Company which is the highest ranking ambulance officer within the company.

Currently Chief Hoffman is employed at Stony Brook University Medical Center as a Paramedic. His duties include being part of a critical care transport team for the only level one trauma center (tertiary care facility) in Suffolk County. In February of 2007 Chief Hoffman was trained as a Flight Paramedic.    

William Froehlich- First Assistant Chief

Chief Froehlich has been an EMT for over seven years and has been active in EMS since 1998. After joining Bay Shore Brightwaters Rescue Ambulance (BSBRA) in 2003, he quickly climbed through the ranks from Captain up to Second Assistant Chief in June of 2006. 

One of Chief Froehlich’s many responsibilities includes overseeing training for all of the Department’s members. Chief Froehlich is currently a CEVO instructor, HAZMAT Operations and EVOC certified.

Prior to Chief Froehlich’s membership at BSBRA, Chief Froehlich attended York College of Pennsylvania, earning a Bachelors Degree in Business Management. While Chief Froehlich attended college he was involved in EMS. He worked his way up to Lieutenant of the local Fire Departments Ambulance Company.

Matthew Phillips- Second Assistant Chief

Chief Phillips began his tenure with Bay Shore - Brightwaters Rescue Ambulance in July 1981 at the young age of 17. Prior to returning to the Chief's ranks, he held the positions of Captain, Third Assistant Chief, Second Assistant Chief, First Assistant Chief and Chief of the Department.

Chief Phillips became an Emergency Medical Technician in 1983 while attending Stony Brook University.

Chief Phillips holds a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts and is matriculating towards a Master's Degree in Criminal Justice.

Currently, Chief Phillips is employed by the New York City Correction Department and holds the rank of Captain. He works at the Correction Academy where he is a Training Supervisor , training primarily in topics that are in the Health and Safety and Fire Response/Inspection curriculum.
